I’m selectively frugal. Cheap, if you will. I’ll drop a bundle on a new pair of shoes, but will walk an hour in any weather to avoid paying for a taxicab. It’s this attitude (plus disdain for the irritating salt found in most body scrubs) that led me to start making my own. Once I started, I never looked at another commercial body scrub again.
My secret? Two simple ingredients that scrub and soften my skin: sugar and olive oil. And that’s it. In a plastic container (better for dropping in the shower), I mix organic sugar and olive oil until I’ve gotten a wet sand consistency. Then I stick it on my shower shelf and I have a perfectly healthy, incredibly effective body scrub. No chemicals to worry about, no $20+ price to pay.
How do you use food in other ways? (Keep it clean!) I’d love to hear from you.
